The Newark native was selected by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2023 NBA Draft with the 22nd overall pick. Whitehead, a 6'7" wing is the youngest draft pick in Nets history.
Whitehead moved to Florida when he was 13 to attend Monteverde Academy where he excelled, being named MVP of the 2022 McDonald's All-American Game and was one of the top recruits of his class, committing to Duke University.
At Duke, Whitehead battled injuries, though he is expected to be healthy by the time training camp begins in the fall. Whitehead is the only current Nets player from the tri-state area.
Whitehead seemed excited to be joining his new team.
